Marilyn Cohn  |  Glass

I have been working with glass for about 7 years and I have taken several courses at Mesa Center for the Arts, Phoenix College and at independent studios. I am intriguedby this particular medium because of the different effects that result with the use of high temperatures in the glass kiln. The creation of a new piece of glass can be a challenge at times, and I find that the glass will tell me what it wants to be. I participate in several art festivals through out the year and enjoy sharing my art with others by teaching. My other love is metal. There are so many things that can be done with that medium.I studied for several years at Mesa Community College in their welding for sculpture course. I also studied blacksmithing and I find that has been very useful when working with metal. My metal work has been on the back burner for the past few years but it is calling me. I tend to make “practical art” pieces that will be used in daily life, and they are going to make you smile. Working in my studio is “MY ZEN TIME”.
