Maret Webb | Glass
Maret Webb is a very versatile artist. Take an architect who studied fashion design, mix it with a person who loves color, and what do you get? Vibrant, colorful artwork with structure! Maret’s pastel paintings, fused glass, and encaustics may seem disparate, but they have a common element: Strong, unequivocal colors that are manipulated to be modest or bold, orchestrated into finished work with light, visual strength and focused concept.
Maret moved from Missouri to Arizona to study architecture at the University of Arizona. A licensed Architect since 1984, she is managing partner of Vehr/Webb Studio Architects & Artists, a husband-and-wife team specializing in owner-occupied projects that require exceptional personal service. Architectural work has included churches, office buildings, custom homes and 501.C.3 projects. Taking her first pastel class in 2002 unleashed a creative spark that was soon followed by the classes and workshops in fused glass and encaustic painting. Maret’s current focus is on creating large works in glass which have been inspired by sedimentary rock formations.
