Jared Tolson  |  Ceramic

From the time when he was a young boy, Jared Tolson has embraced a great passion for the art of working with ceramics. In fact, his first heartfelt experience of "throwing clay on the wheel" took place in a high school ceramics class, and has led this artist to have his hands in "the mud" ever since. Successively, Jared majored in ceramics during college and Northern Arizona University, Sheldon Jackson College (Sitka, Alaska) and the University of Oregon, where he delved even further into the craft of creating pottery.

During these years, Jared also gained hands on experience while working in the studio at the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah. In further his experience as a working studio potter, the artist spent many hours working as an apprentice for his uncle, a master potter in northern Californa who has owned and operated a successful pottery studio for over 30 years. Currently, Jared works out of his studio in Tempe, Arizona producing utilitarian stoneware which reflects the personal inspirations and discoveries of his everyday life.
