CURRENT SHOW:

"Found." by Troy Mark Moody.

Troy’s work explores our relationships with the objects people have made and stocked the world with, objects we have imbued with history and the resonance of life which remains even after they’ve been discarded and forgotten.  His interdisciplinary approach employs multiple processes and materials: etched blown sheets of glass, kiln manipulated glass, hand forged iron, hand-stained glass, 35mm photography, and found objects. As a burgeoning artist in the Phoenix community, Troy Moody’s 10,000 sq ft. work in terrazzo is an integral part of the design of the new Phoenix Convention Center.  This show will be on view from Feb 1 - 28, 2010
.

This Way or That by Julio Cesar Rodarte

"SHAPES" by Julio Cesar Rodarte, March 2010
.  Why must paint be applied only to square or rectangular canvases?  Inspired by the works of Frank Stella and Elizabeth Murray, emerging artist Julio Cesar Rodarte starts his creative process by first constructing a canvas in an unusual shape.    Once he has his sculptural form, he then paints on the shapes with colorful repetitive patterns, geometric shapes, forms, silhouettes, numbers, going wherever the inspiration of the form takes him.  For our March, 2010 show, "Shapes" Practical Art will host the opening reception for Julio Cesar Rodarte on First Friday, March 5, 2010, starting at 7pm.
